Welcome to FireLegacy.org
Preserve and share the memories of your campfires.
In Scouting America (and among many other Scouting organizations), the tradition of saving ashes from a campfire and carrying them to the next campfire is a way to symbolize the continuity of Scouting spirit and fellowship. The old ashes are mixed with new ashes, creating a connection to past campfires and those who have shared them.
FireLegacy.org exists to document the lineage, or legacy, of individual ashes (and their fires) so scouts and scouters can know and understand these past connections and continue the tradition.
